This is an excellent flaring tool - I have never flared copper before and i was able to knock out 4 perfect flares on the first try - I really like the clutch function (to keep from over tightening) and the length stop to Ensure that the copper protrudes the perfect amount for the flare. The provided instructions aren't the best but the video on the product listing (scroll through the pictures) is great.
Finally, a high-quality, heavy-duty, professional-grade tool! I’m building a back-yard office at my Florida home and needed to extend the refrigerant lines of a mini-split AC, thus needing a flaring tool. I’m moderately handy, but have never done anything HVAC related in my life, but decided to give it a try. I was super impressed with the quality of this tool; I’m so used to plastic, worthless tools that flood the market these days, but this tool was solid metal and machined aluminum … real deal. And, after a quick read through of the instructions, to my surprise my very first flare came out perfect. Super impressed. Buy it!
This tool comes with everything you need to make flares for A/C compression fittings. The pipe cutter works very well and has multiple bearings to keep the pipe perfectly perpendicular while being cut. The pencil reamer has a large handle that makes using it very easy. The flare tool has a depth limiter that allows for a perfect depth when holding the pipe and it works really well. Overall an excellent tool for techs and DIYers.
Makes flaring pipes a breeze. Simply move pipe height stop to size you want, insert pipe until it stops now slide pipe stop out of the way. Next slide faring tool into place and lock with with side T handle. Last turn clockwise T handle of flaring tool until it stops then back off all the way, all done. This flaring tool works great for making perfect flares on copper tubing. It it sturdy and well built. The price is reasonable, and the eccentric forcing cone makes very nice, perfect flares on copper tubing. I have not used it on aluminum yet. I have used it on 1/4 and 3/8 . The flares were the perfect size and the clutch mechanism ensures you do not over crush the flare. The copper. insertion depth limiter ensures consistent insertion and the correct flare size without splitting the tube or making the flare too small. My previous flaring tool also would come completely apart. The clamp piece was separate from the top piece with the forcing cone. This one stays together as one assembly, but is easy to use. The indents and alignment marks make for proper alignment for flaring the tube. I highly recommend it.
